Services
We provide force-free behavior, training and management services rooted in science for both dogs and cats.
Initial Consultation
In the initial consultation we will gather a thorough background and history of the animal and problem behavior. We will use this to formulate a management and modification plan. Management plans allow you to reduce the likelihood a behavior will occur while simultaneously implementing training to change the behavior. Initial consultations range from 1.5 to 2 hours in length. These consultations occur within your home, and it is imperative that all members of the family be present. Following the consultation, a written review of the consultations and behavior management and modification plan will be sent to you.
Follow-up Consultation
Follow-up consultations can be booked after an initial consultation. Like the initial consultation, these occur in your home. These sessions build on the training and behavior management put in place during the initial consultation and last for 1 hour.
New Cat/Kitten Consultation
Whether you are welcoming a cat into your home for the first time or adding to the number of cats in your home, this service is for you! These consultations take place within your home, and last for 1.5 hours. During these sessions we will discuss how to set your home up in a cat-friendly way, playing with your cat, desensitizing your cat for veterinary visits, introducing cats in your home to new a cat and much more.
Introductory cost of all services: $100
About Us
Hello! I am Kelsey, the owner of Eastern Iowa Animal Behavior. I became passionate about animal behavior while working at the Outer Banks SPCA after seeing the difference behavior modification and training made in the lives of dogs living in the shelter. Upon leaving the Outer Banks I worked as a veterinary assistant in West Liberty and realized the limited behavior help for pets and their guardians within the Eastern Iowa area. This inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in applied animal behavior and training. I believe in using force-free, science based training, behavior modification and management. I am passionate about continuing education and staying up to date on the new and innovative ways of solving behavior problems while ensuring the highest welfare for pets and their people. In my free time I enjoy traveling, gardening, and spending time with my family.
